Adaptability Survey Results – Below Average

Thank you for completing the Adaptability Survey. Based on your answers please see the following analysis.

Who said leadership was easy? Only the person who has never taken the risk of leading. Your capacity to adapt as rated in this self-evaluation is below average. Your honesty is exemplary. The raw truth is that most of us struggle to adapt when change is both immanent and viewed as negative. (After all, who would reject the change that comes with a winning lottery ticket?!) While humanity is often considered a resilient species, we are a young species – and most of us, if we are completely honest with ourselves, have a long way to go in strengthening our ability to adapt. Developing this “adaptability muscle” will make you a highly capable practitioner of leadership, which can in turn greatly benefit your organization. The results of this survey are tabulated from four critical areas: your ability to diagnose complexity both in yourself and in organizations, and your ability to effect change at an individual and organizational level. If corroborated by your colleagues, your assessment indicates that you may struggle to diagnose complexity in the organization, or at an individual level. Similarly, you may feel you struggle to act in ways that are authentic to yourself, or that you have a difficult time practicing leadership in your organization. Again, this is understandable. The world is a thorny place and difficult problems exists precisely because there are no known or easy solutions. Becoming familiar with the answers to the following questions is a great starting point: What are your default behaviors when communicating with authority? How well do own your piece of the mess? Can you identify the underlying obstacles that limit or restrict your organization’s success? Interestingly, practicing leadership is the work of a lifetime and as our confidence to impact change grows, so too can our efficacy. Congratulations for taking the first step in a thrilling journey of self-discovery and leadership practice.
