Challenge
IHG sought to empower its top 200 executives worldwide to navigate complex, adaptive challenges and drive change effectively. Rapid organizational growth demanded a shift toward more accountable, agile, change-ready leadership while existing leadership practices needed reinforcement and expansion to meet these goals.
Interventions
CLA partnered with IHG to deliver immersive, three-day Adaptive Leadership residential workshops to a dozen cohorts of 20 leaders, using experiential learning techniques like Case-in-Point teaching to help leaders tackle real-time challenges. CLA also introduced a Leadership Practice Series, featuring a library of 24 podcasts and articles on adaptive practices, to support continued learning and development alongside executive coaching.
Impact
IHG’s senior executives developed a shared language of adaptive leadership and gained practical tools to confront complex, evolving challenges with agility. The workshops and ongoing resources significantly increased leadership effectiveness, engagement, and satisfaction resulting in improved financial metrics. Executives were better equipped to implement adaptive behaviors within their teams, fostering a culture of responsive, resilient leadership across the organization.
